Whether you’re moving in to a new house/ apartment or opening up your business doing a House Blessing/ Cleansing should be in order. A house blessing is a ritual that is interfaith so you don’t have to worry if you are Catholic, Jewish, Protestant, and Muslim. It is a ritual that is done to be one with God, thus offering Him the house or your business for clarification and the receiving of blessings.
A priest or any other religious leader usually leads a house blessing. But you can actually do it yourself. Also, a house blessing is not about ancient mantras or even how loud you can shout, it’s about you coinciding with God’s will for your home or business. Here are the steps that you can take to start your home blessing.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
— A prayer
— A candle (if your bringing family and friends along, have them bring candles too. 1 candle per person)
— Incense sticks (1 stick per person)
— Oil (a flower scented oil would be best to use)
— A small feast
SO HERE’S HOW YOU DO IT:
— Gather up your friends and family and say a prayer. There are prayers that are used for house blessings but any prayer that is dear to you will be much appropriate to use. Stand in a circle as you say the prayer. If you have a spiritual leader with you, have him lead the prayer. Don’t worry if you are alone in doing the house blessing. It’s ultimately fine.
— Go to the part of the house that is particularly special to you. Start there. This place will be the center of your house. It could be anywhere; it could be your altar, your prayer room, your master bedroom or your kitchen.
— Circle the room in a clockwise fashion. Do these while saying the prayer. Hold the candle on your right hand and the incense stick on your left. You can even recite your favorite Bible verses if you want to. The most important thing is to open your heart to God and have His Holy Blessed Spirit take over your home.
— The end point of a room is the place where you started. After circling the room and then returning to your starting position, say a personal prayer to God and ask him to protect this room from evil. Continue doing this all throughout the rooms in your house.
— Afterwards, circle the vicinity of your home. Continue to recite your prayer or Bible verses. Put oil on all doors and windows and ask God to put angels to guard and stand by them. Ask God not to let any evil forces to enter your home. You can also put oil on your cars and plants: your cars for safe driving and your plants for them to grow beautifully, bearing fruits and flowers.
— After the house blessing, have your friends and family join you in a small feast. It doesn’t have to be extravagant. This symbolizes thanksgiving to God and His coming blessings for your new house or business.
Be one with God by doing a house blessing. You will surely live a prosperous life after opening the doors to Him and His angels.
